Ordination of Pastor, Alan Hamilton
On Saturday 8th June our Pastor, Alan Hamilton, was ordained at the service held at Birmingham City Church and became Rev. Alan Hamilton.
Back in July 2014 after a period of study Alan was granted a Licence to Minister in his home church of Bont Elim, Pontarddulais. He was accepted as a Minister in Training in April 2016 and was appointed Senior Minister of Swansea Cross Hands in August of that year.
In December 2017 Cross Hands was amalgamated with Ammanford and Alan became Senior Minister of the Ammanford church. In May 2019 he was accepted as a full Alliance Minister at the annual Elim Leaders’ Summit.
Alan was one of 25 ordinands who took vows on Saturday. There was a time of worship followed by a sermon.
Each ordinand was then given a short time to pay tribute to those who had encouraged and supported them through their journey, joined on stage by their spouse and family.
Chris Cartwright, the Elim General Superintendent then led the ordinands through their vows and the National Leadership Team laud hands and prayed for all the ordinands. The ordinands were then presented with their certificate of ordination and a new Bible.
Alan would like to thank everyone who has supported him on his journey especially Rev Jason Beynon, Rev Michael Williams, Rev Bill Chapman, Nigel James and his church family.

Personal Bio
Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Alan Hamilton and I’m the Pastor of Gateway Elim, Ammanford, a church I lead with my beautiful wife Jackie along side me. God has been so so gracious and loving towards me. I spent over twenty years of my life struggling with a Class A drug addiction problem. I tried everything to get clean and stay clean with, if I’m honest, hardly any meaningful success.
I eventually worked out that ‘I’ was my real problem. Drugs for a long time became my solution to me and they eventually stopped working for me too. 8 years ago I was in the middle of making a very serious attempt on my life when God supernaturally interrupted my life. It was in St. Cadoc’s psychiatric hospital in Caerleon just outside of Newport when God spoke to me so clearly in the middle of a ward round. As the psychiatrist was explaining my care plan, I heard a very clear voice outside of me say, “Alan, you’re broke, they can’t fix you but I can”. Within hours I was released into a christian couple’s care. That was the miraculous beginning to my very different life that I have today. I haven’t used any drug since that intervention was staged by God.
My life is very different today. God has faithfully brought me through time and time again. I can’t imagine ever going back to that old life. God is a God of miracles and he can do for you what he did for me. It’s just a question of inviting Him in and then following his plan for your life faithfully. I’d rather crawl into my future than run back to my past. I’ve never ever had it so good!

Personal Bio
I was born and brought up on the Isle of Skye on the west coast of Scotland. I was privileged to have been brought up in a Christian family and made a commitment to Jesus when I was eight years old.
I worked as a primary teacher for twenty years on the Island and have enjoyed taking part in short and long term missions.
In 2013 I moved to Swansea to volunteer at the Bible College of Wales and a few months later met and married Alan. We have been pastoring together since 2014 in South Wales and live with our Jack Russell called Hamish.

Personal Bio
Hi my name is Mark and it’s my great privilege to share a little of my story.
I’m originally from Manchester. I moved to Wales ten years ago. Before that, my life was very different. Wrong life choices had left me feeling lost and without hope or purpose. In 2008 I made a commitment to the Lord and from then on things started to change. Although life has been challenging at times, I can truly say my life keeps getting better. I could never have imagined I would be living the life I am now.
I am now married to Andrea with two beautiful children called James and Emily and our dog Stan. I now have a real hope for the future and it is all thanks to our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
Gateway Elim, Ammanford is a Christ-centred Spirit-filled church. We have a passion to build up the body of Christ and empower by the truth of His word. This is a calling close to my heart as I myself have experienced a life of emptiness, a life without meaning, looking to fill a void that only Christ can fill.
“When God speaks to you and you know you have been encountered with truth, it is important that you implement that truth into your life, that there be a life change.
The Bible says that the truth sets you free (John 8:32). How do you let the truth set you free? It is needful that you take time to process an encounter with God and truth…”
