Departmental Leaders – Annual General Meeting

CHURCH SESSION

Our local Church is given spiritual oversight by what we call the Church Session. This at present is made up of the Pastor, his wife and the two elders, who meet up monthly to discuss church matters, plan ahead and pray together. The Pastor, who was appointed in the usual manner by the Church Session, after consultation with the Regional Superintendent can stay for an indefinite time and under normal circumstances he will not be under any obligation to move. In the unlikely event that the Church Session would wish to terminate the Pastor’s appointment, they may, after consultation with the Regional Superintendent, terminate the appointment subject to 3 months’ notice.

The appointment of Elders to the Church Session, is made by nomination from the Session and confirmed by a two-thirds majority of voting members. Elders have to go forward for re-election every 4 years.

DEPARTMENTAL LEADERS

Due to the current level of resources the Church runs a compact programme but with a vision to expand into other areas of ministry as it sees its numbers increase. Each department has and will have recognised leader/s who are appointed by and are accountable to the Church Session for an indefinite period, which is kept under review. They are as follows:-

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

In accordance with the National Constitution an AGM is held once a year, preferably as early as possible in the year. Both members and regular attenders are invited and encouraged to take part. Only members have a right to vote on issues of election or other areas of necessity as needs arise. A twelve month progress report is given by each Departmental Leader who will also, where relevant, give details of forthcoming events, policies and initiatives and finally take any questions from the floor. Each report is then collated and put into a report that is then made available to the Church as soon as is reasonably possible after the meeting. If voting takes place, the counting has to be done by a trustworthy non-member.
